Hurricane
I thought
I was one of the fortunate few
who deserved what he got, having gotten through
and what wasn't deserved could not be true
was I ever one of the fortunate few?
what I thought
was near was a little too far
you're taking my house, my job and my car
clouds come from the east and hide the stars
what I thought was near was a little too far
don't know
if the storm will take away it all
whether wayward children will heed its call
the palaces stand while the tin roofs fall
Lord will
we make it till the next day
what have we done to be treated this way
thought the golden rule was only made out of clay
lord will we make it till the next day
there's
thousands of people leaving the coast
who never had the right to strangle or boast
they're fleeing from the power which we need most
thousands of people leaving the coast
In the
eye of the past, and I'm thinkin' of you
old folks with everything will have nothing to choose
the greatest detectives will be left without clues
lord give
me shelter form the hurricane
though the body will rust, help this soul to sustain
when the floods subside, will anything remain
lord give me shelter from this hurricane
