Lesson Plan Title : Mom Interview
Age Range: Grade 3 through grade 5 (Elementary)
Overview and Purpose: This activity allows students an opportunity to talk with their moms and learn a little more about them. They then take that information and create a picture representing what they learned.
Objective: The student will be able to interview his mom and create a collage of pictures representing the answers to the questions.
Resources:
Teacher created worksheet
Magazines
Scissors
Glue
Activities:
Have students interview their moms using the teacher created worksheet. During class, have the students create a collage representing the answers from the interview. Allow each student to share their collages if they want. Encourage the students to take the collage home and give it to their mom for a gift. Make sure there are enough questions on the worksheet that the students can create a nice collage.
Teacher created worksheet questions:
What is your favorite food?
What do you like to do with the family?
What is your job?
What is the favorite part of your job?
What do you like best about being a mom?
Wrap Up:
Consider inviting the mothers to the classroom and having a special presentation of the collages. Each student could explain their collage to the group and then present it to his mom with a flower.
