System Requirements/Installation Help

  1. Does the Teachnology Toolbar work with the AOL browser?

The Teachnology Toolbar does not work with the AOL browser. AOL users can use Internet Explorer.

  2. How do I install the Teachnology Toolbar?

Visit our main toolbar page. Download the Toolbar setup program to your local machine and run the Setup.exe file. Installation wizard will walk you through the entire installation process. You will need to restart your machine to use the toolbar in IE after you install it.

  3. I have a Mac. Can I install the Teachnology Toolbar?

No, a Mac version is not available.

  4. Since installing the Teachnology Toolbar, my browser has begun to randomly crash. What's happening?

Do you have other third-party browser plug-ins installed on your system? Some of these plug-ins do not play so well with the Teachnology Toolbar (e.g., SafariDog). If you want to continue using the Teachnology Toolbar, we recommend you uninstall other browser plug-in software and see if that corrects the problem. We appreciate your patience while we work on a solution.

  5. How do I uninstall the Toolbar?

Click the drop down menu next to the Teachnology logo and choose Uninstall.

  6. I've installed the Teachnology Toolbar, but I can't find it. What happened?

If you do not see the Teachnology Toolbar, go to View > Toolbars and click on the Teachnology Toolbar option.

Be advised that some earlier versions of IE 5.0 have a known problem with displaying toolbars. The Teachnology Toolbar may be listed under the name "Radio" (usually the second such listing if there are two). This may also keep the Teachnology Toolbar from initially appearing when it's first installed. Go to View > Toolbars and click on the second "radio" option.

Toolbar Use

  1. How can I move my Toolbar to a different place?

You can change the location of the Teachnology Toolbar within your browser by clicking and dragging the vertical separator bar to the left of the Teachnology logo. Simply place your Teachnology Toolbar in the desired location. This enables you to place two toolbars on the same line if you want to conserve space in your browser.

Please note that, as with all of the IE browser toolbars, you can only move the Teachnology Toolbar to locations at the top of your browser window; toolbars cannot be placed on the side or bottom of the browser window.

If you are using Windows XP, please make sure your toolbars are unlocked. To check this setting, go to View->Toolbars and uncheck the option Lock the Toolbars.

  2. What does the 'Teachnology' button do?

This bar provides you with access to over 50 quality hot links and the uninstall function for the toolbar. You can also enable/disable the pop-up manager from this menu. When the pop-up manager is enabled, all pop-ups and pop-unders sent to your browser are not allowed to open.

  3. What does the 'Search' button do?

Enter a search term in the search box. Then choose the tip of search you would like to be performed from the drop down menu.

  4. What does the 'Email' button do?

When you click the drop down menu, the URL of the site you are currently viewing will be sent to an email form to send to a friend.

  5. What does the 'Bookmark' button do?

This automatically bookmarks the site you are viewing in one click.

  6. What does the 'Translate' button do?

It will translate the langauge of the web page you are viewing. This function cannot translate text found within graphics.

  7. What does the 'Find Owner' button do?

This will provide you with contact information for any web site you are visiting.

  8. How do I hide the Toolbar? How do I make it reappear?

You can toggle the Teachnology Toolbar on and off using the View > Toolbars option on your browser's menu line. Click on the option Teachnology to make the Toolbar display or disappear, just like magic.

Be advised that some earlier versions of IE 5.0 have a known problem with their support for toolbars. The Teachnology Toolbar may be listed under the name 'Radio' (usually the second such listing if there are two).

  9. How do I control the pop-up manager?

You can enable the pop-up manager by simply clicking the down arrow next to "Teachnology" and selecting "pop-up manager". As soon as you do this your pop-up blocker is enabled and the pop-up manager menu will appear on your desktop. Also, the pop-up manager will become active in your system tray.

Through the pop-up manager you will have the follwoing choices:
Allow Pop-ups- This disables pop-up blocking.
Block Pop-ups- This will block your browser's ability to open any new browser windows. Please note that in some situations you may need to via web pages that open in new windows. In cases such as this, just allow pop-ups through the pop-up manager.
Hide Window- This hides pop-up manager in your system tray. It can easily be reactivated by clicking on the pop-up manager icon in your system tray.
Exit Popup Manager- This closes pop-up manager and removes it from your system tray.
