Age Range: Kindergarten through Grade 2 (Early Elementary or Primary Level)

Overview and Purpose : This activity challenges students to create a class story based on the popular book, And to Think that I Saw it on Mulberry Street.

Objective: The student will be able to add onto a story being told by the class.

Resources:

Dr. Seuss' book - And to Think that I Saw it on Mulberry Street

Chart paper

Activities:

After reading And to Think that I Saw it on Mulberry Street to your class, have them create a class story with a similar theme. They could talk about what they saw on the bus ride home, a walk to the principal's office, or out at recess. Have each student add something new that they saw to the story. Write the story on chart paper and use it to help the students practice reading.

Closure:

Students can create a mural of the story they created on bulletin board paper. Have small groups of students work on each scene or allow each student to add his own ideas.
