Lesson Plan Title : Easter Egg Word Families

Age Range: Kindergarten through grade 2 (Primary)

Overview and Purpose: In this game, students practice sorting words by word families. They have to find Easter eggs that have been hidden around the room and put them in the correct baskets.

Objective: The student will be able to sort Easter eggs into different baskets based on which word family they belong to.

Resources:

Plastic Easter eggs

Easter baskets

Easter grass

Activities:

Label the Easter baskets with different word families and the Easter eggs with words that belong in those word families. Hide the Easter eggs around the classroom and have the students each find one. When each student has found an Easter egg, have them take turns putting the eggs in the correct baskets.

Wrap Up:

You can also play this game by writing the words on pieces of paper and putting them inside the eggs. Different words can be used each time. After you're finished using this activity with the class, you can have students continue to practice by putting it in a center.
