Internet access for each student
Discuss Cinco de Mayo with your students. Explain that it has become a very popular holiday in the United States. Have the students use the Internet to research and compare the different ways the holiday is celebrated in Mexico and the United States. They should look at things like types of celebrations, number of people who celebrate, and the amount of money people spend. After the students are finished, come back together and discuss their results.
This activity can be extended by having each student write a persuasive paper about whether the way the holiday is celebrated in the United States or in Mexico is better.
