Introduction: |
|
|
How much do people spend on tobacco products a day to a week to a year to a
lifetime. What could you be using that money for.
For the next couple of weeks, we will be finding and analyzing
information about Smoking, Drinking, and the Ethical Treatment
of Animals. You will choose which of these three categories
that you want to learn and write about. In the end, you will
write an informational brochure, informing your audience about
"Smoking," "Drinking," and "The Ethical Treatment of Animals,"
as well as providing your OWN opinion on the subject matter.
|
|
Task: |
|
|
The students will research tobacco products and come up with
a spread sheet of how much an average adult would spend if
he used 1 tobacco product a day
What do YOU think about each of these things?!
1. Smoking
2. Drinking
3. Ethical Treatment of
Animals.
Choose the topic that you are the most excited to learn and
talk about! You are going to use different websites to research
your chosen topic!
|
|
Process: |
|
|
1. Select a tobacco product
2. Research the product
3. Find the price
4. Calculate for 1 day of use
5. Calculate for 1 week use
6. Calculate for 1 year of use
7. Calculate for 1 average lifetime
For this project, you will be able to gather information
about your chosen topic through websites and written materials.
You will be able to read and analyze this information, so
that you may produce an informational brochure about your
topic. Remember to always keep your personal opinion in mind
as you read through the information, because you will also
write about this in your brochure.
You will complete this project by following the following
steps:
1. Half of the class will use the computers, while the other
half is reading the paper material. (This will switch-ALL
students will use both types of texts!)
2. First, choose the topic you want to research!
3. Using the computer and this WebQuest, you will use only
the ALLOWED websites to gather information about this topic.
4. We are not printing any of this information.
5. You are taking your own notes, on your own paper, from
the websites.
6. Please write down as many facts as you can find. A minimum
of 10 is required.
7. Please make sure that you write down the website from which
you gathered the information.
8. You will use this same process with the printed texts,
when it is your turn to view them.
9. You will use the information obtained to produce an informational
brochure about Smoking, Drinking, of the Ethical Treatment
of Animals.
10. You have the rubric for your brochure-make sure you meet
all of the expectations in order to get the best grade possible!
