3. Quote of the week-
The real difficulty, the difficulty which has baffled the
sages of all times, is rather this: how can we make our
teaching so potent in the motional life of man, that its
influence should withstand the pressure of the elemental
psychic forces in the individual?
~ Albert Einstein ~

5. Jokes You Can Tell In Class-
"The New Sitter"
Patsy offered to care for the eight-year-old daughter of her
next-door neighbor. She arrived in time to prepare breakfast,
laying a generous helping of bacon and eggs in front of the
child. "Mother always serves hot biscuits for breakfast,"
said the eight-year-old.
So, Patsy, very eager to oblige, hurried into the kitchen
and quickly prepared a plate of hot biscuits, which she laid
in front of the girl. "No, thank you," she said.
"But I thought you said your mother always has hot biscuits
for breakfast!" said Patsy in surprise.
"She does," said the child. "But I don't eat them."

9. Ask Our Experts-
*************************************************************
A question from Anonymous:
"Is there a web site that compares cell phones and cell phone
service?"
*************************************************************
TeAch-nology.com's Staff Response:
If you're looking for a little history on cell phones, we
would suggest you visit:
http://www.ee.washington.edu/class/498/sp98/final/marsha/final.html
A really good site for comparing service plans and phones can
be found at:
http://www.letstalk.com/
*************************************************************
A question from Anonymous:
"Is it a growing trend to put cameras into classrooms? I
teach in a very small community school. We are a K-12, with
approximately 145 students. Our Superintendent sold the idea
to the school board, insisting that it was for our protection.
Now, we can be monitored all day long."
*************************************************************
TeAch-nology.com's Staff Response:
We wouldn't term it a trend. Be aware there are a few schools
which began the school year with fully monitored classrooms,
over two years ago.
Of the schools that we are aware of, the cameras have been
disabled due to union issues. In these cases the
Superintendents had sold the idea to the school board as well,
but the teacher unions were not compensated. In some cases,
the unions were not even made aware.
We expect to see this trend rise, but districts will be forced
to compensate teachers and redefine the term "observation."
*************************************************************
A question from Josette:
"Do you have any strategies for a student who is dyslexic and
having great difficulty in math. He knows concepts but
reverses steps. Any Ideas would be appreciated."
*************************************************************
TeAch-nology.com's Staff Response:
Strategies will depend on the degree of dyslexia of which a
student has been diagnosed. We have resources that may help
you with ideas regarding dyslexia. It can be found at:
http://www.teach-nology.com/teachers/special_ed/disabilities/dyslexia/
Good luck!

10. "Our Latest Idea That Worked!"
"Speaking Cards"
By: Arif Budiman, English Teacher
"Its purpose is to make students speak more. It works well
with non-english language students, who study English but
they should be at least at an intermediate level.
I use domino cards to build the speaking class. Each card has
certain orders or questions which must be done or answered by
the students. Sometimes I include some orders to ask them to
start a short coversation. When the player(student) is not able
to do the order or answer the question on a card, they have to
put their card face down. It will be counted as their mistake
and he/she would be punished by the other player to sing a
song with a certain style. It's usually fun! This is a great
way to get students comfortable with engaging in conversations."
