5. Jokes You Can Tell In Class-
"First Day of School (a true story)"
On the way home from the first day of school, the father
asked his son, "What did you do at school today?"
The little boy shrugged his shoulders and said, "Nothing".
Hoping to draw his son into conversation, the father
persisted and said, "Well, did you learn about any numbers,
study certain letters, or maybe a particular color?"
The perplexed child looked at his father and said, "Daddy,
didn't you go to school when you were a little boy?"

9. Ask Our Experts-
*************************************************************
A question from Anonymous:
"How can I prepare my 2nd graders for the terra nova?"
*************************************************************
TeAch-nology.com's Staff Response:
A good way to prepare students for any kind of standardized
test is to become familiar with the structure of the test and
what the test actually "measures." Try to get a sample copy
of a terra nova and review the test item structure with your
students way in advance. It is also important to know what
content and skills the test is measuring and to make sure
you align your curriculum to the those objectives that the
test targets. It is okay to test "for" the test and not
necessarily "to" the test. Teaching "to" the test takes
away the true quality of teaching and learning!
Good luck!

A question from Anonymous:
"Hello. I'm a Marketing and Business Education teacher at
my local high school, here, and am always in search of new
and interesting (as well as preferrably free) pre-existing
teaching materials and lesson plans. Are there any links
that you can tell me about, which I can explore for potential
use in my classroom?"
*************************************************************
TeAch-nology.com's Staff Response:
A good place to start is by using our lesson plan search
area. We have an extensive Economics section. Just click on:
http://www.teach-nology.com/teachers/lesson_plans/
Good luck!
*************************************************************
A question from Anonymous:
"What is a 3 point lesson plan???"
*************************************************************
TeAch-nology.com's Staff Response:
From the title, it sound like the three most important
components of lesson planning: Planning, implementation and
evaluation. To learn more about lesson planning, visit our
lesson plan tutorial at:

Hope this helps!

A question from Lynne:
"I teach grades 1-8 Computers. Unfortunately I started in the
middle of the year and I was not given any text books or
software. My question is do they have text books that deal
with teaching computers to children? Where can I get them?
Are there any sites out there that can help me teach these
children? Help I'm running out of ideas."
*************************************************************
TeAch-nology.com's Staff Response:
There is so much on the Internet that is available to you for
FREE. Our site, www.teach-nology.com offers so many resources
that you can use with your students. Textbooks are sometimes
limited in their scope as to what needs to be taught and as
to tailoring the content to younger children. Because most
children today come to school computer literate, it is better
to teach them how to use technology to their advantage, i.e.,
accessing information and evaluating whether it is "good"
information. Also, teaching children how to make technology
work for them is a life long skill. A good project that can
be used to motivate as well as teach children to use
technology responsibly is 'creating a web page.'
As for specific resources, we have the following available:
If you have Internet ready computers, our Internet in the
classroom section will provide you with over a hundred quality
sites:
http://www.teach-nology.com/teachers/educational_technology/internet_in_class/

Good luck!

A question from Anonymous:
"My PC takes about 3-4 minutes to shut down after I give it
the shut down command. How do I correct this. Please be
specific. Thanks."
*************************************************************
TeAch-nology.com's Staff Response:
We're sorry, but there is really no way to be specific for
this question. What is happening is that your computer is
taking a long time to shut down certain programs that are
running in the background. To answer the question we really
need to know what operating system you are using.
Here are the four most common quick fixes for this problem
regardless of the operating system you are using.
1. Make sure that you shut down all programs before you shut
down the computer. Lots of people forget to do this.
2. Remove programs from your system tray. These are programs
that run in the background; they automatically load when you
boot your computer. Again we can't be specific on how to do
this, we don't know what operating system you're using. Refer
to the documentation that came with the operating system.
3. If you have installed a disk management system of any
kind, make sure it's disabled before you shut down.
4. Have you defragmented your hard drive lately? That will
speed the performance of your whole system. Again, refer to
your Operating System's documentation.
As a last resort we would recommenced that you back up all
your important files and reformat your hard drive. This will
speed up the performance of your computer as well.

A question from Anonymous:
"Do you take questions about Macintosh computers?"
*************************************************************
TeAch-nology.com's Staff Response:
Yes, we take Mac questions.

A question from DRW:
"I would like to get teacher calendar. Where to I go to
register for my name and password.
Thank you DRW"
*************************************************************

*************************************************************
A question from Anonymous:
"Can i get a cd to teach me to build an on-line shop ,from
wow to go?"
*************************************************************
TeAch-nology.com's Staff Response:
There are several CDs out there that can help you learn the
ins and outs of on-line stores. We find that no CD can
compare to the value of opening an on-line store through
Yahoo! It will cost you $100 a month to open a small store
with up to 50 items. They take care of the web development,
store appearance, technical support, and best of all, credit
card transactions. They don't squeeze a fee from you for
every credit card transaction, which means that the shop can
eventually pay for itself if you're dealing in volume sales.

Good Luck!

10. "Our Latest Idea That Worked!"
"Recipes Are Not Just for Cooking"
There are a number of things you can accomplish by using
recipes. Kids could learn about foods from all over the world
and gain an appreciation for different customs and traditions.
Skills such as measuring quantities or amounts of ingredients,
the mixing of ingredients and chemical changes that occur, or
the content of food and the caloric index. Kids love to eat
what they prepare. It is easy enough to obtain a cooking
element to heat food or you can prepare the food ahead of
time and tell the students what you had to do to get to that
final product that they can enjoy eating. A great site to
start with is:
