Jokes You Can Tell In Class- "Dining Out" One evening, I went with my parents to a fancy restaurant. Dad was about halfway through his meal when he took a hard look at the potato, called the waitress over and said, "This potato is bad!" To my utter amazement, the waitress at this "5-Star" place, picked the potato up, smacked it, put it back on the plate, then told my Dad, "If that potato causes any more trouble, just let me know." ------------------------------------------------------------- Like Jokes?? They can be found at: http://www.teach-nology.com/teachers/special_ed/behavior_mgt/ Good luck! ************************************************************* A question from Anonymous: "Is it necessary to have a college degree in education to be a part time music teacher in a catholic school? I know someone who is excellent, but, teaching without a degree- her students are learning so much hands on and theory- she was a performer and a church musician." ************************************************************* TeAch-nology.com's Staff Response: "It all depends on the requirements needed to teach in the school system (or the state). Sometimes experience can replace a degree as well as years practicing a particular trade. Again, it all depends on requirements. Hope this helps." ************************************************************* A question from Anonymous: "I am doing research on different types of schools and I am having trouble with one, maybe the spelling is wrong. Can you please help me out? The name of the school, I think, is "Waldolf." ************************************************************* TeAch-nology.com's Staff Response: The following page has a lot information on the Waldorf Method: http://www.teach-nology.com/teachers/methods/waldorf/ Good luck! ************************************************************* A question from Anonymous: "How do I use a KWL Chart?" ************************************************************* TeAch-nology.com's Staff Response: A KWL Chart is a very effective teaching strategy that promotes strategic learning. A list of resources that offers explanations as well as templates that will help you to develop a KWL Chart can be found at: http://www.teach-nology.com/currenttrends/alternative_assessment/knowledge_mapping/ ************************************************************* A question from Anonymous: "Hi I tried making a crossword puzzle. But THERE ARE NO NUMBERS IN YOUR PUZZLE?? Is there a way to put the numbers in the correct boxes?" ************************************************************* TeAch-nology.com's Staff Response: Good Question! Our directions weren't as thorough as we thought. To add numbers to your crossword puzzles, all you have to do is to put a number in before the clue. For example, let's say the clue was the word March. You would use six boxes, The first box would have "1." and the remaining boxes would have the subsequent letter in the word. Our cross word puzzle generator treats numbers as exceptions. When you input numbers, the final crossword will show the numbers and still leave all letters blank. ************************************************************* A question from Anonymous: "We have AppleWorks 6.02 on our new iMAC computers. We are unable to use the Search for Graphics part of the program. (We are using a Microsoft network and have log-ins.) Is there a port we need to open or something we need to do to be able to access the graphics. We would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!" ************************************************************* TeAch-nology.com's Staff Response: "Although our staff does not have first-hand installation knowledge of this particular version of AppleWorks, we're sure that this is not a hardware issue at all. When installing AppleWorks, you are asked which components of the package you would like installed. This is where you should make sure the box that states "Graphically Search Capability" is checked. Our best guess is that this may be your problem. So, you'll probably want to go back to the installation menu and make sure that this box is checked. If that doesn't work, you may want to reinstall the program making sure to do a complete installation." ************************************************************* A question from Anonymous: "Can I connect my AlphaSmart to my PC tower with a scanner already attached via a USB port?" ************************************************************* TeAch-nology.com's Staff Response: If you have a separate USB port to connect, you will have no problems. But, if you have your AlphaSmart running through your scanner, you may have a slight or complete problem. Try it, but make sure to shut down the scanner software if it has active software. Most of the time this will work. But if it doesn't, your best bet is to invest in an A-B switch (about $10) and run both the scanner and your AlphaSmart through the switch system. This will also make it easy when you take your AlphaSmart mobile. You won't have to get behind the scanner and unplug it all the time. Good Luck! ************************************************************* A question from Anonymous: "How can you add text to a border graphic in Microsoft Works?" ************************************************************* TeAch-nology.com's Staff Response: Depending on the version you are using, there are about 6 different methods for doing this (due in part to Microsoft changing the user interface every other version). We'll give you directions using the most popular version of Works. You want to go to the format menu, then open the border menu. Once in there, you should be able to open the page border menu. If you choose the custom option, you should be able to edit, or add a page border graphic. Just click "browse", find the border you would like, and click "OK". ============================================================= 10. Get Rid Of Bad Credit For FREE! It's Run By A Non-Profit! By: Carol Trousdale:Content Mastery Teacher, Technology Lead Teacher "Poster Project" "For a positive way to encourage good group behavior, get a poster of any size (it's good to start with a small one) and cover it with blank sticky notes so that the picture is completely hidden. As the group exhibits good behavior, take a piece off of the poster. I looked at hall behavior, lunch behavior, group project behavior, library behavior. I also took a piece off of the poster if another teacher complimented the class on their behavior. If the principal complimented the class, I took two pieces off of the poster. When the poster is completely uncovered, we had a party of some description. The rules can work the other way, also. On a day when the class just can't seem to settle down, I usually got their attention by putting a piece back on the poster! The teacher can giveth and can taketh away!" ------------------------------------------------------------- Click Below, To Visit Our "Ideas That Worked!"
