A question from Anonymous:
"Hello my name is chris ______ i go to ______ academy. I met
the lead shareholder of this website or company who is one of
the schools trusties and i met her in the lab at the middle
school i was wondering how to create games with cool graphics
were do i go??"
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
TeAch-nology.com's response:
We encourage you to try your hand at learning how to write
simple programs (games). Before you begin to develop games
for use over the web, you should have a advanced understanding
of HTML. A good site to start learning HTML can be found at:
The Bare Bones Guide To HTML- http://werbach.com/barebones/
Once you completely understand the front-end (what users see)
and back-end (what users don't see) programming with HTML,
you're ready to move up to creating games. You'll notice that
our site offers two types of arcades. Our basic games page has
games that were made using one of two types of coding
languages: Java and JavaScript. Our animated arcade has
games developed in both Flash and JavaScript.
The easiest code to recognize is our battleship game, which is
coded entirely in JavaScript. Out of all of the languages that
we use for coding games, this probably is the easiest to learn.
A great site for learning this type of coding is:
http://www.javascriptguide.com/
When you've got JavaScript under your belt, you're ready to
move onto Java. This language is a lot more difficult to learn
if you are new at programming. A great site to get you started
on Java is:
http://www.javacoffeebreak.com/
Once you have coded your first Java game successfully, you're
ready for Flash/Shockwave programming. Flash-based programming
is becoming very popular. One of the best sites for Flash
programmers is:
http://www.help4flash.com/
Beware that along the way you may need to purchase some software
to help you on your journey. There are a great number of free
editors available for Java and JavaScripta and you can find
them at download.com. For Flash programming, you will need to
purchase a copy of Macromedia's Flash editor, version 5.0 was
just released.
If you're new to programming for the web. You will run into
frustration along the way, just keep in mind there are plenty of
experts in this field that offer free help, we would recommend
the allexperts.com network for specific questions.
Good Luck!

A question from Lorenzo, M.D.:
"What WEB site, program or CD can teach me Powerpoint to be
able to elaborate presentations with the sophistication of
your monthly motivator.
Thanks, Lorenzo ______ M.D."
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
TeAch-nology.com's response:
PowerPoint's current capabilities does not allow you to deliver
highly animated/interactive media for the web. Our monthly
motivator is coding in Flash. PowerPoint allows you to make
very static web-based presentations.
If you would like to learn how to use the advanced functions
of PowerPoint for off-line presentation delivery, there are a
number of methods for doing this, as your question indicated.
It really depends on your learning style.
If you learn well from on-line sources, we would suggest:
www.myhelpdesk.com.
This site will help you learn just about any software application
for free. The free service covers a great number of
the advanced functions of PowerPoint.
If you have like to read more about this, we would suggest
"PowerPoint 2000 Essentials Advanced", by Linda Bird; Prentice
Hall; ISBN: 1580762867. This book covers all the advanced
functions and does a great job of it. It runs just under
$20.00.
If you are a visual learner, we would suggest the book
"Teach Yourself PowerPoint 97 Visually", by Ruth Maran;
ISBN: 076456062X. We haven't come across the 2000 update for
this edition. We have seen hundreds of people pick up this
book and end up making great presentations in a few weeks.
The pictures make it easy to understand. It runs just under
$30.00.
As far as CDs, we have yet to see an outstanding, easy to use
CD. There are a great number of CDs, but they are very user
unfriendly.
Hope this helps!
