Teaching with Technology Site of the week- MooMilk- http://www.moomilk.com/ Children who want to learn more about dairy farms and products will find information about cows and milking, recipes, connect the dot pictures, a monthly contest, a milk quiz, and a virtual tour that tells the journey milk takes from the food the cows eat through the milking process to the store. ============================================================= Sponsor: ============================================================= 2. Quote of the week- "It should be possible to explain the laws of physics to a barmaid." ~ Albert Einstein ~ ============================================================= Sponsor: ============================================================= 3. Jokes you can tell it class- "Being tall isn't all its cracked up to be" Scientists have shown that the moon is moving away at a tiny, although measurable distance from the earth every year. If you do the math, you can calculate that 85 million years ago the moon was orbiting the earth at a distance of about 35 feet from the earth's surface. This would explain the death of the dinosaurs. The tallest ones, anyway. ============================================================= Sponsor: ============================================================= 4. Technology Tidbit- A question from Sherri of Palo Alto, CA: "I noticed your Motivator section. The technology used is incredible. How do you do that? What programs are involved? Is it really hard to learn it?" TeAch-nology.com's Response: The main program involved in developing such media is a program made by Macromedia called Flash. We use the latest version which is version 4.0. To develop the graphics and audio we use a variety of programs. For graphics our techs use Adobe Photoshop 5.5, After Effects, and Macromedia Free Hand. For audio we use a home made program developed by our techs. The learning curve on Flash is pretty steep. We would recommend it for advanced users. If you have a background in programs that involve layers, such as Adobe Photoshop it's not that difficult. In the coming years we expect that this technology will be easier to use. ************************************************************* To ask the TeAch-nology.com staff a question go to: http://www.teach-nology.com/help/ask_a_tech_expert/ ************************************************************* ============================================================= Sponsor: ============================================================= 5.
