Gender inequities found in school today have been a sensitive issue throughout the years. It is known that men and women are treated unequally in almost every aspect of life; in businesses, job offers or in school. Gender inequities found in school has even been experienced by children as young as 4 years old. This article will focus on the gender inequities found in school today from kindergarten through twelfth grade.

During the previous years, it has been obvious that educators in public schools have been giving much attention to students who were males as compared to the females. In that way, male students are likely to have excelled because of the educator's attention to them by giving them extra credits whenever they need academic help.

But as we look at the education system today, there much has been a turn around with gender inequities. It has been said that the girls are more likely to succeed in terms of anything connected to academics. They are more likely to have better grades than the male counterpart. Male students are expected to do better when it comes to anything related to sports.

There are causes that are pointed at whenever gender inequities are talked about. Some said that female students look like they are treated less than boys because their appearance to the public eye is much meeker than the males. In that way, they do not look like they are confident enough to actively participate during group discussions in school. As compared to boys who show much more energy in class especially during group discussions.

Gender inequities have an effect on every male and female student. If female students are more likely to show excellence during the time wherein they are still in kindergarten through twelfth grade, male students are more likely to succeed when we talk about tests that are standardized like the Scholastic Aptitude Test or popularly known as SAT. That puts them in the position that they will probably be accepted in a great college as compared to female students.

Gender inequities still step in when we talk about where they excel in terms of school subjects. Female students are said to be doing well in subjects such as English and the Arts, male students are more likely to succeed in Mathematics or anything related to numbers.

Gender inequities can be easily avoided. In ways like, being careful about how you group your students in a classroom can be a way wherein sexism can be avoided. Avoid classifying them by their gender. There are many ways that can be thought of to group them. Be meticulous in what materials you present the children. See if the materials that you present are giving off texts that lead to a gender inequity issue.

Sometimes, gender inequities found in school today can be obvious in the way an educator talks to their students. As simple as using gender-free statements can help avoid the chance of looking like what a person is doing is bias in terms of gender. Also, there are certain clubs or organizations found in school today that may inhibit male students and female students to be equal. Flexibility is the key to open up choices equally for either male or female students. But the good thing about the present situation in schools is that women are not accepting the fact that they are treated inferiorly as compared to men.
