 REVIEW AND WRITE NOTES ON BOARD REGARDING TALLY CHARTS, BAR GRAPHS, HISTOGRAMS, LINE GRAPHS AND CIRCLE OR PIE GRAPHS.
Goals:
 STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND AND CREATE THE FOLLOWING: DATA MANAGEMENT,SURVEY TAKING, GRAPHING TECHNIQUES, DATA COLLECTION.
Objectives:
 STUDENTS WILL TAKE A SURVEY BASED ON DIFFERENT QUESTIONS IN SMALL GROUPS OF FOUR. THEY WILL THEN DRAW AND LABEL A TALLY CHART AND CHOOSE THE BEST APPLICABLE GRAPH TO REPRESENT THEIR SURVEY DATA.
Materials:
 PAPER, PENCILS, SURVEY QUESTION, GRAPH PAPER, CHART PAPER FOR REPORT, FELT MARKERS
Introduction:
 BRAINSTORM A CLASSROOM SET OF SURVEY QUESTIONS ACCORDING TO CLASS SIZE AND GRADE LEVEL. IN GROUPS OF THREE OR FOUR, TRAVEL TO DIFFERENT CLASSROOMS WITH TEACHERS PERMISSION AND WITH A 15 MINUTE TIME LIMIT TAKE A SURVEY OF THE QUESTION ASKED. RETURN TO THE CLASSROOM.
Development:
 EACH GROUP WILL TAKE A TURN ORALLY REPORTING ON THEIR FINDINGS, USING CHART PAPER OR AN OVERHEAD. AUDIENCE MAY ASK QUESTIONS REGARDING POPULATION, TAMPERING OF DATA ETC.
Practice:
  WHEN COMPLETING A REPORT OR SOCIAL STUDIES ESSAY, GRAPHING CAN BE USED. POLITICAL POLLS, ENTERTAINMENT POLLS AND FOOD SURVEYS ARE OFTEN QUOTED IN NEWSPAPERS AND ON TELEVISION. STUDENTS CAN GET A FEEL FOR WHAT IS TRUE OR CAN BE MISREPRESENTED.

 STUDENTS MAY USE INTERNET WEBSITES FOR GRAPHING INFORMATION SUCH AS GRAPH.COM FOR WHICH YOU NEED ONLY TO PLUG IN THE DATA AND THE GRAPH IS CONSTRUCTED FOR YOU.
Checking For Understanding:
 TEACHER AND PEERS CAN EVALUATE THE VALIDITY OF THE SURVEYS AND QUESTION/COMMENT UPON THE GRAPHS OR CHARTS. PEER EVALUATION AND SELF EVALUATION IS IDEAL IN THIS INSTANCE.
Closure:
 PLACE THE GRAPHS AND CHARTS IN THE MAIN HALLWAYS FOR THE GENERAL SCHOOL POPULATION TO VIEW FOR THEIR INPUT. GRAPHS AND TABLES ARE INSTRUMENTAL IN EVERYDAY LIFE AND SHOULD BE USED TO THE UTMOST IN EVERY SUBJECT AREA
Evaluation:
 THE STUDENT CHARTS WILL BE USED AS AN EVALUATION TOOLS. TEACHER WILL CHECK FOR ACCURACY AND TEAM WORK.
