 Vocabulary: fractions, denomiators, numerators, reduce, least common multiple, greastest common factor.
Goals:
 TLW: Be able to add fractions with like and will be introduced to fractions with unlike denomiators.
Objectives:
 Students will be able to identify which fractions can be added, add and reduce fractions.
Materials:
 Paper and pencil
Introduction:
 Students have been identifying fractions, reducing, finding equivalent fractions in previous lessons.
Development:
 Pictures of sliced pies, bars and numerical representation will demonstrate the concept of adding fractions. Numbers will then be used to show how to add fractions with like denomiators. Explaination on when you can and cannot add fractions will be discussed.
Practice:
 Students and the teacher will add fractions together, then independently with answers and explainations being shared as a class.
Accommodations:
 One-on-one tutelage, peer assistance or the use of pictures (bars,pies).
Checking For Understanding:
 Students will tell what the learned that day and explain the process/steps.
Closure:
 Verbal recap of the day's lesson, the steps and important reminders.
Evaluation:
 The students will complete a teacher made test at the end on the week to show mastery or knowledge of adding fractions with like denomiators.
