 MLA format, future dreams for today's world
Goals:
 To understand MLK's speech and create their own based on how the world is now and what they want for their future
Objectives:
 To hear the teacher read the MLK speech and understand what was said and why. Think of how this can apply to today and how it can be modified
Materials:
 Projector (to display speech), copies of speech, paper (provided), and pencils,pen, printed paper (final outcome)
Introduction:
 In February, I will introduce the students to Black History Month (give a brief background) and read aloud the "I Have a Dream Speech" by Martin Luther King Jr.
Development:
 For the students to understand how life was in the Sixties and how it is different today and what they can come up with for rewriting this speech for today
Practice:
 As a class, we could brainstorm ideas together on the board. We could do a web or just list ideas of what our dreams for the future entail.
Accommodations:
 None
Checking For Understanding:
 Will accept questions and with the brainstorming class project, I hope they will understand the project
Closure:
 Read the speech, brainstorm and then write their own essays on the "I Have a Dream Speech"
Evaluation:
 After checking to see if they are on the right track by looking at their journals, they will have a rough draft due in a week followed by the final paper
