Content:
 This unit will address the primary reason why it is important to prepare for an interview, how to conduct an interview, and how to use the responses of an interviewee to develop a feature.
Goals:
 Students will be able to estabish questions centered around the theme of this year's book. Students will be able to use the interview responses to create a story.
Objectives:
 1. Given examples of actual interviews, students will define elements of effective interviews amd develop at least three effective techniques. Given the questions and techniques they have developed, the students will conduct an interview. Given all the above information, the students will write stories based on the interview consisting of two full pages.
Materials:
 notebooks previoius yearbooks worksheets overhead projector transparencies
Introduction:
 Using famous interviews in people magazine, have students look at the stories in the magazine and determinee what questions have been asked to obtain the informtion.
Development:
 Monday - The students will observe and list ways in qhich digital photography tells a story. The students will listen to a presentation given by a guest speaker. The students will list the techniques used to tell a story. Tuesday - The students will define an effective interview. The students will divide into groups to develop leading questions. Wednesday - The students will utilize the camara and questions to conduct the interview. Thursday - the students will utilize the resopnses to the questions to develop a story about the person they interviewed. Friday - Senior/Freshman buddy day the students will take pictures of senior and freshman activiteis.
Practice:
 Students will list questions. They will develop their stories and take pictures. The students will compare stories to those seen in magazines.
Accommodations:
 Students will be partnered with those who need assistance with reading or writing. Teacher will monitor class as they work independently.
Checking For Understanding:
 Students will be given a quiz to check for accuracy. Have a class discussion about the process.
Closure:
 Students will share their findings with the class. Teacher will observe and note these findings.
Evaluation:
 Students will be given a test to check for accuracy and following directions. Teacher observations will be used for assessment. Peer evaluations can also be used.
