Goals:
 SS11 1.3 Students will understand the role Paul Revere played during the American Revolution and how it benefitted the colonists. LA11 2.2 Students will organize their ideas using the poem: "The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere" and a graphic organizer/bubble map.
Objectives:
 The students will demonstrate understanding by reciting rhyme schemes. The students will demonstrate understanding by completing a bubble map utilizing prior knowledge and newly obtained knowledge to successfully complete.
Materials:
 Index cards with questions, bags, blank bubble maps, stanza strips, poem
Introduction:
 Gain the students attention by reviewing that they have been learning about poetry in ELA and famous Americans during the Revolutionary War in Social Studies. Present the two bags (Poetry & Paul Revere) to each student one at a time. Have them pick a card from a bag and read and answer the question. Do this until all have had a chance to pick a question.
Development:
  The purpose of the above exercise is to tap into their prior knowledge and build on their classmates knowledge of poetry and the famous American, Paul Revere. Once this is complete, the students will be given a chance to demonstrate their knowledge of rhyme schemes and Paul Revere by sequencing the 5 lines of the first stanza of a poem. Once they have put the rhyme together as they deem appropriate
Practice:
 Once this is complete, the students will be given a chance to demonstrate their knowledge of rhyme schemes and of Paul Revere by sequencing the 5 lines of the first stanza of a poem. Once they have put the rhyme together as they deem appropriate, check for understanding and achievement by making corrections
