Materials:
The book Good Vibrations: Experimenting with Sound By: Renee Rogers, and I will use a worksheet with it as well
Introduction:
Introduce the book to them and give them the worksheet to find out: what they already know, what they want to learn, and what they did learn from the lesson.
Development:
The book is a K level book which there are only a number of students that read at that level. They will be in groups so that the K level students can use team work to help the other students read and understand the book.
Practice:
After the book is read, the students will go to stations that each have the different tools that were in the book to make vibrations and sounds.
Accommodations:
If there are problems with reading and understanding, I will read the book to the class and then put them into groups so they can experiment the sounds and vibrations in groups.
Checking For Understanding:
After the lesson I will ask questions to the material to make sure the students understand where sounds come from.
Closure:
After all of the students are done at the stations, there will be one more tool that was not in the book and I will ask if they believe if this tool will make a noise. I will be using a glass cup with water in it to see if they can tell if this will make a sound.
Evaluation:
The assistant will be sitting in on this lesson and will let me know what I did correctly and I will need to work on for the future.
Teacher Reflections:
I will correct the worksheets to see how well this lesson was understood and if they learned, and liked the lesson.
