Goals:
 Introduce the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia so at the end of the lesson participants will have a better understanding of the partnership and friendship America and Saudi Arabia. Participants will understand the strategic importance of this alliance is not dependent on America's consumption of oil. Participants will gain knowledge and appreciation of Saudi culture
Objectives:
 1. To establish a link between a social studies classroom in Saudi high school and Freddie Thomas High School. 2. Use this visit to establish a common technology based lesson plan to be used in the social studies resource library. between another
Materials:
 1. Computer with sound card and speakers. 2. Internetnet access for video conferencing. 3. Video camera (2) 4. LCD projector 5. Screen 6. Global wall map 7. Lecture and discussion notes packet. 8. Guided notes and questions packet. 9. Participant journal.
Introduction:
 Participants/students will do a map activity to locate Saudi Arabia. This will be followed by a brief brainstorming session to check for knowledge about Saudi Arabia to include knowledge about Saudi American Relations.
Development:
 Teacher will give a brief explanation on: 1. Bedouin culture 2. Ruling monarchy 3. Discover of fossil fuels. 4. Strategic importance of American and Saudi relations.
Practice:
 Lesson will start with opening an internet link with our partner classroom in Saudi Arabia. The Saudi teacher will speak to the Freddie Thomas class describing the school and taking the class on a virtual tour. The Saudi classroom students will introduce themselves to Freddie Thomas and vice versa. The students will ask questions from the lecture and discussion notes packet.
Accommodations:
 Participants will use: 1. Graphic organizer to compare and contrast the changing Saudi culture from past to present. 2. World map
Checking For Understanding:
 Participants/students will complete an essay on virtual classroom visit in their journals.
Closure:
 participants/students will then compare their notes the statements from the brainstorming session
Evaluation:
 Both teachers will email each other and give their reflections and feedback on the fesiability of a continued and/or repeat session and any additional resources to keep this lesson plan as a virtual classroom project.
