Goals:
 1. Students will describes the social, political, cultural and interactions among people of California from the per-Columbian societies to the Spanish and Mexican periods. 2. Students will explain the social and political life in California from the establishment of the Bear Flag Republic through the Mexican-American War, and the granting of statehood.
Objectives:
 1. students will be able to explain how California became a state. 2. Students will be able to describe the spanish exploration and colonization of California.
Materials:
 History textbooks, encyclopedias, US map, paper, pen/pencils,malers, highlighters, notebooks, student workbooks,computers
Introduction:
 California from the Per-Columbian societies to the Mexican rancho periods.
Development:
 I will show the students (using the class room map of the U.S) some of the routes the early explores used to get to Next I will point out why people came to California and the routes they travel. Next I will have the student tell me what they already know about California during this time era. I will be writing down their respondes on the whiteboard using a KWL chart.
Practice:
 I will next have the students open up their books to the chapter reading. Then I would lead them through a guided reading on the chapter they are studying. During the guided reading I would stop and point the key vocabulary words.
Accommodations:
 classroom computers and alfa smart are made available to student who have IEP and need to use technology assistant to complete their assignments.
Checking For Understanding:
 I will next have the class tell me what they learned about California and list their comments on the KWL chart on the white board. Next i will ask them is there anything that they want to know about that was not covered in today's class reading. I will list their comments on the KWL chart.
Closure:
 I will have the students verbally summarize what they learned again and sharing their answers to the unknown terms. I would now assign their homework study books.
Evaluation:
 I will have a check list with the students names and I would check off and write a short statement on what I seen during their classwork time.
Teacher Reflections:
 I will write how I felt the class did today. I would list what I should have none to make the lesson better. I will also list what I need to do to follow up on this chapter reading
