 Forms of Government - Democractic and Authoritarian Democratic Forms of Government - United States government - Representative Democracy (3 branches of government)and Parliamentary Systems Authoritarian Forms of Government - Dictatorship and Monarchy
Goals:
 By the end of 50 minutes, students will be able to provide examples and explain the types of government discussed in class (Representative Democracy, Parliamentary System, Dictatorship and Monarchy). Students will be able to clearly recognize the main form of government each type falls under.
Objectives:
 Students will be able to identify and explain the types of government discussed in class (Representative Democracy, Parliament System, Dictatorship and Monarchy). Students will be able to compare and contrast the four types of government
Materials:
 Powerpoint, Map, Globe, Television (DVD Player)
Introduction:
 The introduction will begin with a brief definition of the term "government" and "democracy." These being prerequistes needed to understand the types of government discussed in class. Next will be a powerpoint presentation on Representative Democracy (focusing in on the 3 branches of government).
Development:
 After the powerpoint presentation, the next type of government discussed will be Parliamentary System. The map and globe will be utilized here to show where this system exists in the world. A Short video will then be displayed to segway into Authoritarian forms of government. I will then discuss and explain a Dictatorship and a Monarchy. Again the map and globe will also be utilized here to show where these types of governments exist.
Practice:
 After each type of government is discussed and explained. Students will in small groups work on a matching/question worksheet. This will help me know if the students are understanding my discussions. The worksheets will also help students study the material.
Accommodations:
 Classroom environment and lesson plans will be constructed in a manner that will suit all mulitple intelligences.
Checking For Understanding:
 Classroom Constitutions will be collected and graded based upon the rubric for the project. The constitutions will be presented for the benefit of the class, however, the presentation will not be a factor in grading. Students will also be tested on the material later on in the chapter test.
Closure:
 The class will end with a short review/recap on the types of government discussed in class
Evaluation:
 Students will be evaluated on their classroom constitutions and on their test scores later on.
