 6 Important African-Americans and their contributions to our society.
Goals:
 -To understand the contributions people have made to our society. -To understand the changes that occurred because of these important people. -To develop an appreciation for the role good citizens play in our society. -To recognize the accomplishments of these individuals.
Objectives:
 -Students will partner read a biography from a selection of well-know african-americans. -Students will list the key accomplishments of the individual and how they changed our society. -STudents will create a poster to share with others what they have learned about the contributions of these great citizens.
Materials:
 book set- GWAEA- biographies of famous african-americans
Introduction:
 Use Rosa Parks picture book (real-aloud) to share with the class one well-known great citizen and what she did that changed our society.
Development:
 Introduce the other well-known african-americans and share a few things about each person.
Accommodations:
 choose partners carefully.
