Goals: | -To understand the contributions people have made to our society. -To understand the changes that occurred because of these important people. -To develop an appreciation for the role good citizens play in our society. -To recognize the accomplishments of these individuals. |
Objectives: | -Students will partner read a biography from a selection of well-know african-americans. -Students will list the key accomplishments of the individual and how they changed our society. -STudents will create a poster to share with others what they have learned about the contributions of these great citizens. |
Materials: | book set- GWAEA- biographies of famous african-americans |
Introduction: | Use Rosa Parks picture book (real-aloud) to share with the class one well-known great citizen and what she did that changed our society. |
Development: | Introduce the other well-known african-americans and share a few things about each person. |
Accommodations: | choose partners carefully. |
