 The topic of this lesson plan is to discover who the Indigenous residents of Michigan were. Through this discovery we will also identify how they lived, and where they are living now.
Content:
 (II. Geographic Perspective, CS#1 All Students will describe, compare and explain the locations and characteristics of places, cultures, and settlements.) (II. Geographic Perspective, CS#2, All Students will describe, compare and explain the location and characteristics of ecosystems, resources, human adaptation, environmental impact, and the interrelationships among them.)
Goals:
 �Locate the general region in which the indigenous persons lived. �Compare and contrast the lives and roles of indigenous persons to the lives and roles they have now. �Predict how indigenous persons are living today.
Objectives:
 Students will correctly identify and color on a map of Michigan the home location of indigenous persons by Native Nation. Students must also locate and color on a map of Michigan current Indigenous tribal reservations.
Materials:
 Map of Michigan Crayons List or prior knowledge of indigenous Michigan persons.
Introduction:
 In anticipation of using the University of Michigan's online Native American's of Michigan exhibit. The teacher will write on the board names of certain indigenous tribes. , and where in Michigan they lived.
Development:
 Have the students color in where they think Indigenous persons lived and where they live today.
Practice:
 Run the University of Michigan's online Native American's of Michigan exhibit.
Accommodations:
 
Checking For Understanding:
 Ask students by regions were what tribes lived there, and see if they can answer the questions. Regions would be, Detroit- Ann Arbor area. Monroe - Toledo area. Saginaw Flint Area.
Closure:
 Ask the students what they thought about the online exhibit. Ask the students how correct they were about where the indigenous persons lived. See how much of this information they knew before this lesson and how much new stuff they learned.
