I want to get a gift for my daughter's kindergarten teacher before end of semester. What is a reasonable amount to spend and what is a good gift? I am thinking about a $50 gift certificate from Bath and Body Works. How does this idea sound? What are the other occassions to give gifts to teachers?

I give watches to my children's teachers. Usually with a note thanking them for "their time" or the "countless hours they've devoted to teaching my children". One can never have too many watches and if you know the personality of the teahcer at all, it is fun to get something that reflects their individuality. Makes it more special that you picked the gift with them in mind.

As a new-ish teacher, I really enjoy receiving books and other things that I can use in my classroom. A lot of teachers spend a tremendous amount on their classrooms. A gift certificate to Office Max or Staples would be great too.

My favorite gift is a personal note/drawing from the student and a note from the parents. But as far as purchased gifts, I enjoy gift certificates to Barnes and Noble, teachers' supplies stores, or movie theaters. Many malls also have certificates that can be used in any of their stores. It doesn't have to be alot, just a little something is much appreciated.

In this day and age we teachers especially in the early grades spend a lot of our personal money on books and materials that our 'shoestring' budgets don't allow us to purchase. There are some great books out their that would make a great gift for a teacher. One particular book just came out... THE BIG SQUEAL (Amazon.com ) has a great teaching guide with it that should be in every classroom.

My mother often gave stationary or personalized slips of paper for my teacher's desktops!

I want the parent who is going to give his/her teacher a 50 dollar gift certificate! I think that is a wonderful idea! Another great gift certificate idea is to have it for a school supply store.
Just one thing I personally BEG parents not to give. COFFEE MUGS! I have so many that it is unreal. Plus I don't usually drink coffee during school hours anyway because it causes bad breath. |

The gift certificate is always a good choice...
xmas... any nice xmas decoration for your teachers house or even the classroom... Marshalls always has really nice things under $20 ![]() valentines day... (a card and a chocolate is a nice gesture!) teachers day... stores always have teacher's goodies... for this ocassion you might want to give her something for herself or any plaque or nice figure that states how special she is in the life of your child... this always cheers teachers up when they are close to the final countdown!!! |
