Math FEAR is a global phenomenon. Research shows that more than 85 % students fear mathematics. They fear mathematics because everybody around them tells that MATH is difficult. People around them narrate their stories how they used to bunk mathematics classes and score pass marks in the subject. They even go to the point of telling that even today they are very poor with mathematics. The environment around them makes it more difficult and student develops a mindset that MATH is difficult.


Another major contributor to the difficulty of mathematics is lack of innovation in conventional system of teaching. The conventional system of teaching makes mathematics a dud and boring subject. Students are unable to visualize the concept taught by the teacher. Therefore, their interest level goes down. Hence they start developing a disassociation with the subject. If this disassociation continues for a longer period of time child starts hating mathematics.

This phenomenon of Math fear is growing everyday and now CBSE has also recognized this problem. Through their circular they have asked the schools to create an environment where child takes interest in Mathematics.


The big question Mark is what to do so that child takes interest in Mathematics?


The solution is available in the form of our homegrown science “Vedic Mathematics”. It allows children to play mathematics. Everybody is aware that children love to play. They like to experiment. One thing why I found Vedic mathematics easy and impressive is the methods are based on natrual tendancey of brain e.g. we relate the calculations to the nearest base of 10 and perform the additons/ sbutractions and multiplications.
Nikhilm, Urdvatiryak sutras do very simliar things.
