Thumbs up Inspiring kids (and administration) to go green

Here is a short video about a teacher that inspired her kids to start an environmental club. Her enthusiasm spread to the entire community. Pretty cool.

iTurnedGreen.com

It's the "Miss Colina" episode.

I make it a point to double my carbon footprint to match the efforts any koolaid drink enviromenalists. If my admin EVER tries to do a 'go green' effort in school, I will refuse and make sure that I drive my 10 mpg truck to school everyday in protest

I nominate Chocolate_New_Orleans. By far the wisest teacher I have come across on this website. Why?

1. He's old school
2. No happy go lucky BS theories
3. Doesnt pretend children are innocent angels that need 24/7 catering
4. Crushes newer teachers hopes and fantasies or recreating 'Dangerous Minds'
5. Will most likely be a 35 year veteran, outlasting 90% of the hippie teachers on this site.

Screw it, I'd nominate him Time's Man of the Year.

Seriously, I would love to teach with this guy. I have my doubts about the extremely politicised nature of the whole "go green" thing as well. Teachers are forced to mindlessly adopt and promote many politically correct and popular efforts - and these efforts seem to change frequently.

It could be great to work with people who think for themselves and don't mindlessly accept everything.

Boo hoo. I have no sympathy for you. If the admin makes rules, they get to enforce them. Maybe you should just grow up, **************** it up, and do what they tell you.

Oh, that sounds kind of familiar. I think someone was saying recently that even though they may not like their admins, they live in an "adult" world. Know anyone like that?
