Default Do you still have these?

Jeanette - I just saw this e-mail from you. This is exactly what I am looking for. Did you ever put any of these into a book? I would love to use some!

Question for some of you - What type of copyright issues would I face if I wanted to create a book/cd with as many of these as I can? I would most definitely give credit to those that I have as authors, but some of them I am unsure about.

Thanks!
Jeanette

I, too, have been searching all over for these"patterns" as I teach keyboarding. Would LOVE to have any patterns that others are willing to share and/or trade project ideas, etc. or a small fee.
Please email me: championsleeper@yahoo.com

I too remember these 'typing pictures' but have, myself no luck finding them on the internet, they were great fun weren't they. I am going to try my local library!

Ah. I have these in my files. I taught typing on a typewriter for years.

They won't work well unless you have a typewriter. The old ones -- the ones that most kids won't even recognize (and most teachers won't either).

They work because each character uses a set space, or pitch per inch. Pica equaled 10 characters per inch, Elite was 12. No matter what character you typed, they all took up the same space on the paper. Computers don't do that. They're more like the old IBM Executive typewriters that use proportional spacing. A capital W uses more width than a capital I. So these types of puzzles have fallen by the wayside. Many of these puzzles incorporated the use of the open or closed parentheses and the asterisks to make snowmen and other holiday-oriented pictures.

Try J. Weston Walch Publishers. They were a publisher of lots of games and activities such as these. Very difficult to do on a computer, though, unless you have it set in a sans serif font at the same point size. Maybe someone has figured out a way to do it, but I can tell you from experience teaching it: it wasn't easy to get all of the kids to understand how to set the whole thing up and get it to actually look like something when they were done.
