I am an Australian student teacher currently studying Linguistic Foundations as a subject. I have been taught a range of different approaches, such as Whole Language, Basic Skills, Critical Literacy and Strategic Approaches. We have been informed that many of these approaches are past their used-by-date in regards to it being the 'only' approach being implemented. However, the intention of learning these different approaches is to critically analyse each of them drawing out the advantages, in order to use them in the classroom.
It would be really valuable to hear your perspectives regarding these approaches, drawing from your own personal experiences.
