My name is Ken Starks and I own Lobby4Linux.com. We are a Linux advocacy website not only devoted to the proliferation of Linux, we also assist the various schools and districts that ask for our help.

First things first. We don't want your money. What we do want is your input into an operating system. If you could boot your computer and have everything you need and want on it, what would it be. OH, this is free, always will be free and you will never be asked to contribute money of any sort.

Give us your ideas and thoughts and we will build it for you. No money, no tricks...just a sincere contribution to those who form and influence our children. Contact me at helios@lobby4linux.com or go to http://www.lobby4linux.com and check us out. We want you comfortable with us before anything else.

Is PC-bsd open source? Will it run most of the UNIX programs that currently run on FreeBSD?

code has been cleaned up and installation has been simplified alot!, but it is still the open source, secure system you have come to use. the bsd powers-that-be are trying to compete with linux for the desktop. While I think it's a good idea, I think they got out of the blocks a bit late. Still, it is proving to be stable and secure.

But I can run FreeBSD on a PC.

Well yeah...PC-BSD is made for the 386 architecture. As well as on others, yes...but It is like most other bsd distros. It is meant to run on a PC. In fact, it is quite like a Linux install (Based on knoppix - imagine that)
