Hi all :)

I will be a first year teacher and am teahcing 4th grade. This is quite a switch for me, as all of my experience lies in the primary grades. I have a lot of decorations, materials, books and worksheets for primary..but next to nothing for 4th grade. I feel like all the things that I have maybe be too "babyish" for these children. Are there any specific books that anyone can recommend? (workbooks, or kids books..maybe a particular series?) Also, what type of management techniques work best with intermediate students? Any other general advice would be great...Thanks :)

I teach 5th grade, so I can't give you the kind of help another 4th grade teacher could. I belong to the fifth-grade-teachers mailring. I just checked and there is a group for fourth grade teachers, too. The one I participate has been in existence for at least a couple of years. It looks like the fourth grade one has just reformed.
