Does anyone know anything about the Shurley method for teaching grammar. I have seen some sited but they aren't very descriptive. Has anyone used it? How well does it work? Are there any adaptations for the high school classroom?

Shurley is a very ROTE technique of learning Language. It teaches a question and answer flow that makes students memorize jingles for parts of speech, word usage, etc. I find it very helpful for lower level students who are weak in Language Arts skills. Starting the entire process at a high school level might not produce results that are favorable unless followed thru from the beginning to the end of the year, at a very repititious and repetitive rate of teaching. It is a memorized technique that only succeeds with daily practice and a committed source of instruction.
