Hello all
Im looking to change careers as I always have loved working with children I thought about becoming a teacher. Now I am a 38 yr old male who if I go back to school for 4 years and get my degree will then be 42 yrs old is that too old to start teaching career? I live on Long island in NY and want others opinions.
At one point I was also looking for a online course that I could take that would enable me to get my teaching diploma and would give me a advisor or someone who would help me along way and help me set up student teaching and the 100 hours of classroom I would need.
Any suggestions are welcomed the good and the bad.

...Bite Your Tongue!

I earned my first teaching credential at the young age of 42.
Don't discount your abilities because of your age. Yes, I'll admit that a mid-life career change can be daunting, especially when you've got a family to fend for. However, if you're not content in your current line of work, and you've got the teaching bug, it can't hurt to at least try.
Online courses are great if you want to set your own schedule AND you enjoy working alone. If you need that social interaction thing, try one of the adult learning center - National Univ., Univ. of Phoenix, etc. - they have both classroom and online courses.
Good Luck!
