I am in the process of expanding the list of books for which I offer grammar guides on my web site (grammargator.com). In addition to the titles already available, I plan to add the following:
Chasing Vermeer
The House of Dies Drear
The Witch of Blackbird Pond
Summer of the Swans
My Brother Sam is Dead
Nothing but the Truth
My Side of the Mountain
Sign of the Beaver
Dragonwings
Enders Game
The Watsons Go to Birmingham
The Westing Game
I would love some input from my fellow teachers of grades 4-8 on this. Are these the books you teach? Are there others you use instead/in addition?
I would appreciate any feedback you can provide.
Thanks.

I'd like to see some of Walter Dean Myers books included.
Monster and Hoops are two of my students' favorites, but there are others.
The Shakespeare Stealer is another book I have used.
Some other books that I use or have used in the past:
Z is for Zachariah
The Skin I'm In
The Pearl
The Outsiders
Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
A Christmas Carol
The Westing Game
The Egypt Game

I appreciate your feedback. Others have suggested Monster, as well, so I'll look into that one. I'm not familiar with The Shakespeare Stealer, but I'll check it out.

Thanks, Lonestar. I must be on the right track, as Guides for many of those titles (Across Five Aprils, Roll of Thunder, Hatchet, Blue Dolphins) are already available on my site.
I'd love to see A Wrinkle in Time make a comeback!
Thanks again.

Ironically, that's one of my daughter's favorites. She's now a copy editor and writer working for a magazine in NY. Graduated with a degree in English from UT Austin. She asked for A Wrinkle in Time about a year ago for a birthday present since we had misplaced the copy she read years ago. One of her other favorites is The Little Prince. She says she reads that once a year. I guess some books will always remain classics.

If you plan to teach any of those three books this year, there are grammar guides for them available at grammargator.com. You can even download a sample of the guide for Freak the Mighty.

Thanks, Zimmie! I'll have to run this by our English department once school starts.
