I am a student teacher and my supervising teacher has asked me to come up with a lesson (grade 4/5) relating to time - specifically, 'how much time has elapsed?'

An idea would be I did such and such from 4.15pm to 6.20pm, how much time has passed? (it doesn't have to be exactly like this though).

She would prefer pictures of analogue clocks on the worksheet (so that they can also have exposure to drawing correct hands etc), and I thought that rather than spend ages trying to cobble a sheet together I would ask here if anyone knows of a good work sheet that might suit my needs, or indeed another type of lesson I could run with the kids on this specific topic.

Thankyou.

Pete.

;)Pete, I have found many ideas, lesson plans and worksheets on-line. There are many lesson plan sites that would probably have what you are looking for, or some that you good tweak. Good luck! Elapsed time is hard for some students to grasp........they are so used to reading digital clocks!

Have you considered integrating any technology into your lesson? Here's a website with online interactive clocks you can used for figuring elapsed time:
http://fwt.txdnl.com/4-10/w/e/weddell/mw/time/Time%20Difference.swf

If you choose the challenge level on this site, it has pre-made problems you could work on with the kids: http://www.mrnussbaum.com/clockworks/

These two websites came from StarrMatica.com. Our school has a subscription. They have tons more elapsed time games and activities that you could use if you signed up for their one week free trial.

Hope this helps....

There's a whole collection of exercises for reading and drawing analog clock time here at the link below, along with a few basic time addition worksheets (add 15 minutes to the time shown on the clock, etc.)
