Hi!
I am a teacher and am assigning a project for my Chemistry class. The project is that students will have to make a review game. I would like to make an example that is original, and creative. Any suggestions?

I had my students either play and revise (low level) or develop (high level) short games about very specific parts of the unit. Then on review day they wrote down the 3 areas they most didn't understand from the review (which was broken up to match the different game objectives) on a sheet of paper. They then had to find the 3 games that covered those topics and play at least 2 rounds then write a 1 sentence reflection about the game.

My example was go-fish for ions. I don't have an electonic version but basically you just have playing card with mono and poly-atomic ions. They have to be ablo recognize (mono) or read (poly) the charge of the ion and ask for a complementary ion... follow basic go-fish rules

There is a software program called LoopWriter (and it's CHEAP) where you can make loop games, also known as I have/Who has? I have my students generate questions in small clusters (4-5 students per group), have the kids go to my computer and plug in their questions and answers and then we "challenge" each other with the games they created. This program is simple- you just type in your questions and answers (you can even import graphics!), print, cut and play. The kids LOVE the games and ask for them all the time. The great thing is that they are reveiwing content as they generate questions, then each time they play a game they are reviewing, so by the end of the review they may have reviewed the content 5 or 6 times! And because they are having fun they are engaged and retaining the info. I promise you it will be a hit in your classroom.

You can download a trial at www.LoopWriter.com.

ENJOY!

if you want an original idea, try teaching them and NOT make a game out of it. Nowadays, THAT is original
