I saw a movie in my undergraduate teaching math class. It was a movie about fractions from the early 80's I believe. It had to do with whole numbers living in a village and they didnt know that fractions exist. Strange things start happening in their village, such as someone takes a part of a loaf of bread, which is strange because usually they take a whole loaf (ie #7 would take 7 loafs and #3 would take 3 loafs etc). My 3rd grade students are learning about fractions and I would love to show them this movie. Anyone heard of it and/or saw it? Do you know the name of it?

Thanks ahead of time! :)

I am not a registered user on this list but I was looking for a copy of the fraction movie you are talking about so I was Googling everything I could think of when finally I found "The Weird Number". I only found it for sale one place, at this web site: http://guidanceassociates.stores.yahoo.net/weirnumfrac.html. I thought it was a little expensive but if it is something that a school can buy to have in the library for teachers to use it might seem more reasonable.
