My brother is trying to start a small business but he needs about 60000 to get started. He thought about a grant but the only way to get one is to pay for this crap that comes up when you search for it. How and where does he apply? How long will it take? How many forms and what type of forms does he have to fill out? If you have applied for a government grant and received it, please, help me out. Thanks a lot.

In most cases if you have to sign up stuff or pay for stuff, it is often a scam. If you do have to subscribe to things and buy things and fill out endless surveys and questionaires, get out of there fast because even if you do not end up owing money for something that you did not even realize that you signed up for, you will greatly increase the amount of junk mail which you will receive. Most of these sites originally lead you to believe that you can get some big prize in the end, but the total costs of what you must sign up for is substantial.

But, that said, do not lump sites like FastWeb.com in with the scams. It may seem like you must sign up for different offers to get where you want to go, but the trick is that if you scroll down, there is a line which says, "No, thank you," that you can click on. When you do click on "No thank you," you do get to where you want to go without any more fuss.
