This question is for NY City high school math teachers.
Someone told me that the Math A and Math B regents are no longer going to be given. In fact, they are going to replaced by a new math curriculum.
Is this true? Why?

yes its true, their changing it back to sequential 1,2,and 3. They felt that Math A and B were not in order and was harder to understand. They want students to be taught all of geomtery one year, all of trig one year...they do not want it to be mixed.

They are going back to sequential math 1, 2, and 3 books? As a math tutor, I always felt that students were being robbed out of a solid math education using the Math A and Math B content. I see no reason why material not easy for everyone to grasp to be taught in less time. Students taking the Math A and Math B were tested after 1.5 years of school.
It is super ridiculous! Who came up with such a stupid idea? It is impossible for students with a weak math background to swallow so much information and then be tested. The sequential math program, which is the one I took over 20 years ago, works best in terms of preparing students for the NY State Math Regents.
