HI! I'm currently entering my senior year of college. I am majoring in Biology. I planned to start my Master's in Teaching Program next year. I was told it would be a good idea to double major in Chemistry and Bio. However, I was told I could take a board exam after I get my MAT to get the Chem certification. Does anyone know anything about this? I live in Maryland and am attending school there. Any help would be appreciated. You can also email me. (jmckenzie02@frostburg.edu) Thank you!!

That seems pretty standard. What State do you plan to teach in?

In my state too, you can take the NTE (or whatever they call it now) in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, etc and with 12 semester hours in the subject you can get that certification. BUT with all these NCLB rules coming out it may be soon required to have a degree major in a course before you can teach it. If you can double major now it may help you in the future. Food for thought.
