Listen, listen, and listen to her. If she says something you know you need to tell her parents then tell. Right now she is trying to find her nitch whether popular or not, just listening to her may do the trick.
she is SAD
so she has done theses things:
-dye her hair black
might do these things:
- start shopping @ HOT TOPIC (alternative store in the mall)
- start listening to emo music (hawthorne heights, escape the fate, armor for sleep ect.)
- consider herself emo
just to tell you:
- emo does NOT mean that u cut your wrists
- does not mean "overly emotional"
means you listen to music that falls under that catagory and dress in self-expressing clothing styles
Note to all:
I AM ONLY POSTING THIS SO ALL TEACHERS KNOW
stop critizing us emos, + we like to be left alone
do not try to talk to us.

YOU ARE SO RIGHT!!!!
all my teachers critizise me because i'm emo!!
they will never stop going on about things that i dont do, and i'm not talking about homework!
they told my parents i cut my wrists "because i'm emo" !
1) i dont cut my wrists
2) i dont even know how they got that idea
3) why do they think this
they probably saw some untrue thing about emos on the internet or something..
pretty. odd.

untrue things on the internet. yeah right. I have a saying, if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it is a duck. If you don't want to be treated like a duck, quit acting like one.
This applies to many facets of life....
if you don't want to be treated like a criminal, don't act like one
if you don't want to be treated like a thug, don't pretend to be one
and yes...
if you don't want to be treated like an EMO (who do cut themslves for attention), then don't try to look like one
how they got the idea and why they think it is because EMOs do that stuff. Don't be so naive

So. . .basically just be a whiny teenager who wants to get attention? Thanks for the ball-shattering revelation.

Um no, you are not expressing your "self", you're expressing a trend to which you are seeking to belong. Emo = trend. In fact, people who ascribe to a certain trendy style of dress/appearance are demonstrating an even higher degree of commercialism by selling out and buying into the trend that "image = reality". What an utterly unmoving diaspora of self worth. Here's a word scramble to help illustrate my point:
yourself over get
stop critizing us emos, + we like to be left alone
do not try to talk to us.

Yes, because nothing screams "leave me alone/don't notice me" like an outlandishly awful appearance. Come on, dress how you want within dress code limits but lets not pretend you don't dress outlandishly for the sole purpose of having how you dress be noticed by your peers.

I didn't know what emos were until googling it a few minutes back.
My solution (well for my context at least), problem girl will attend counselling sessions, with the school psychologist, during school hours. Should she wish to discuss her issues, I am available. Letter is sent to parents informing that said student will conform to school uniform regulations - hair will be dyed back to her natural colour and will be tied/pinned back. Student is to remain home until she conforms with hair regulations - student has one day's grace to stay off school before we contact the truency officers. Should the girl return to school with strange hair we shall send her to school designated hair-dresser and forward the bill to the parents. No problem with clothing as she would be dressed in school uniform -

Yeah,
My teachers give my friend a really hard time. At the parent teacher conference, our science teacher's like "I noticed her using my tools for her own purposes. Yeah, it's sad.

Yes, the tragic pathos of your plight is epic. Oh if only there were some way to escape the prejudice of a cold world that just doesn't understand your whiny trend. Woe! Woe is you!
Do me a favor and google child labor (http://lmgtfy.com/?q=child+labor)sometime, then ask yourself again why most people don't dole out pity to upper-middle class kids who use depression as their attention-getting tool of choice. Our definitions of "sad" are spaced quite widely apart.
