I'm going back for my Master's in Literacy (what they used to call a Reading Teacher). Can anyone tell me what to expect from a job with such certification? I work with a population that has complete non-readers up to above level readers. I've become interested in helping the non-readers and chose this track for my graduate studies.

What state? What is your goal. DO you want to be a literacy coach? There is a world of opportunity out there for the new literacy masters. I have a masters in educaiton but am a certified Reading specialist. Finally after 30+ years I am teaching reading at the 3rd and 4th grade level and loving it. Arkansas through Harding Univesity is now offering a Master in Education Reading degree. It is hard rigorous program, very extensive but once completed very fulfilling. I am not going to do it because i am so near retirement. Harding University in located at Searcy, Arkansas. This program focuses on Literacy. Good luck!!
