One of my pupils asked me if there is a grid method for division. I did a google search and didn't find anything so I had a go at working a grid method for myself and it worked! It was fairly easy and I even think that it is a method that you could use in your head. Has anyone seen a grid method for division before?

You can view my grid method here: (scroll to about half way down the page)

Nice but, as mentioned, only works well for numbers that you already know the multiplication table for.
A problem like 798471 divided by 548 would be hard with this method.
I took a look at using "double division" for this problem and it worked out easily.
