Open Class or Closed Class Schooling?

I would like your opinions on open class teaching vs. closed class teaching.

Do you have a preference?

If so, why?

In closed classes you are imposing a "cast" system that will follow students for the rest of their educational careers, if not their lives. In an open class students can learn to value what we all have to offer to each other and our society as a whole.

I usually close the door on my classroom while I'm teaching. I'm funny that way. ;)

I realize this is not what you were asking, but I don't know what open class vs. closed class means. Are you talking about open-concept classrooms, where there are no walls? Or something else entirely? :)
