Since I've moved to a new school, three years to be exact, I've not exactly fit in. I understand more as of late. I go classroom to cr ona cart to teach music/chorus.Rather than speak with me some have complained to my team leader about any lateness on my part. my team leader wrote a letter to admin. to "make him aware " of this problem. No one spoke to me. One once because the commute was outragious and I complied to get there as fast as I could.
i came from a great school, where we took care of each other./ All issues were professional and handled that way.I try to be myself, positive and try to help them see other ways, but they're stuck in the past (ways). I've definitley stopped. The teachers have it so good they have no idea; a 50 min Prep and a 50 min. Team prep every day.
One solution is i'm loking to move again. What's so disappointing is that I took this job for family reasons. My job that was great moved too far away.

Someone (not you) needs to facilitate a meeting with the "bothered" parties. You also need some members there who know you, like you, and understand the problems you face. The biggest problem I have seen in this profession is that education/learnedness does not equate to emotional maturity. Each member of a team has got to pull his/her weight. Then you can help each other too! A caring group is a wonderful find! Hope you can help mold one. If not you may have to look elsewhere. IMHO

Thanks Jack! I agree. Unfortunately my leader put this issue in writing of course the day before Feb. Break. This is very tipical of many of the staff. No one spoke to me. "They" is the problem. They don't welcome new people well and our admin does nohting. Our VP is always busy whil the P is not doing much. Teachers run the school and if admin is involved they are bothered.
Thanks I will try to keep fous on the kids and RUN up and down the halls!:)

Watch what you put in writing! Watch your spelling and grammar! These are also a picture of you to your colleagues.

My third through eighth years of teachers were in building like that; I, too, transfered from another state for family reasons. Years later I can look back and laugh at how very awful it was! Now, I even meet people from that job that felt exactly as I did. Too bad their comfort came years too late!

Hang in there! Kill them with kindness and unflappable positiveness! You will succeed!
