I am plannning a research project that would include interviews with US teachers and/or questionnaires. I'm living in Europe and have never before travelled to the US, so I do not really know how good the chances are that I find teachers that would be willing to answer questions and/or fill out questionnaires. I guess that contacting the school beforehand would be the appropriate thing to do? Are teachers in general happy to help in research (at least, if it would take them only a couple of minutes) or sceptical? The research topic would be somewhat controversial, I fear.
How good are the chances that I might get the permission from a school to watch a lesson or two? It would be a pity if I had to write about the American education system without ever "having seen it with my own eyes" :(
Are there any important legal barriers I should know?
