Character Ed - How to measure growth

I'm a 2nd grade teacher working on my Masters. I'm considering on writing my thesis on "The effects of teaching Character Education." My problem is... I'm not sure how I can measure growth, or lack of, after teaching some character ed lessons. I need some type of pre/post test to measure changes in students. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on where to get info. on this?

Any type of content or quantifiable test should do. As long as both groups are given the same treatment besides the Character Ed. piece. The test doesn't have to be anything out of the ordinary.
