When I was a lad (40 years ago), I treasured reading a particular book almost every visit to my grandparents' house. I recall the book's title as "Well, About a Penguin."

It was the story of a penguin, Richard, whose edge of an ice floe broke off and sent him to the big city. As he floated away, his fellow penguins exhorted him, "Send us a post card, Richard." In classic fish (or in this case fish predator) out of water style (not unlike Babar), Richard makes it his mission to learn what a post card is, then how to write, so that he can prepare a post card.

What he does not learn is the postal system, so - post card in flipper - he returns to Antarctica with his product, announcing to his compatriots, "Here's that post card you made such a fuss about."

This is a wonderful tale about the meaning of correspondence, yet I cannot find it anywhere. I've Googled variations of the title and used various rare-and-out-of print book services to search for it, to no avail.

Does anyone have an idea of how to search out-of-print children's books?

Thanks,
