I am trying to set up an exchange between our rural New York State 2nd grade classroom and one urban and one suburban 2nd grade classroom (preferrably) from New York State. The goal is to make the New York State Standards for the grade 2 social studies curriculum more concrete and exciting for our students.
I know that technology is important, but I would like my students and the others in the exchange to use regular mail. I think that it would be beneficial for them to work on writing a letter about what it is like to live in a rural, urban or suburban community.
We could send pictures of our rural town etc to the other two schools involved. I want this to not be too time consuming, but a worthwhile, memorable exchange for all involved.
I hope to make a connection on this soon- for the beginning of the 2006-2007 school year. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you.
