Hello
I am teaching combined high school science classes this semester (eg. Chem 20/Chem 30) Does anyone have any tips for me? I have done it once, and found myself relying on a lot of worksheets, rather than direct instruction. I am looking for a way to combine the two?

Can you provide some examples of lessons from both you would need to teach in one session?
I have never been a fan of centers, but this might be the solution. Work with one group while the other works independently on their assigned coursework.

An example of a class that I might be teaching is concentration (c=n/v) to Chem. 20 students and a lesson on calorimeter's to Chem. 30 students. To me, these topics have no obvious correlation and to go through each of the chapters for the different courses and finding similarities is very time-consuming, and I don't have that much time.

Again, I would use (gulp) centers. Have a reading exercise planned for one group while you lecture the other. Then switch the roles.
